What comes to mind when you think about buying or selling a landscaping business? Valuation and purchase price are normally at the top of the list for most people, regardless of whether they are buying or selling. Buyers then tend to think about their acquisition criteria – location, service lines, price range, etc. Sellers on the other hand think about money, retirement, and all the potential their business possesses for a new owner who really knows how to capitalize on it.
There are four critical aspects in calculating the value of your business. Understanding each component can place your business in a better position and a return on your investment. Learn how to calculate the value of your business, identify crucial aspects of valuations and understands risk factors that affect your company. The most common methods used to value landscape businesses. While attending this seminar business owners will learn:
- What Key Aspects Buyers are looking for in a landscape business
- Risk factors in acquiring a business
- Simple Tips for enhancing value
Brandon Stephens, President
The Decor Group
As a young man, Brandon partnered with his grandfather to build storage units. Brandon managed the storage units, got involved in real estate business and also managed a heavy equipment and trailer dealership. After operating his businesses for 11 years, he sold the storage units and moved. Brandon found that his real passion was marketing and business development. Through networking, he was introduced to Blake Smith and his partners. Smith started a company in 1986 that hung holiday lights for residential and commercial properties called Christmas Decor.
In 1996, Smith and his partners began franchising. As the company grew, Smith and his partners realized that they needed more staff to run the company effectively. By 2003, as Christmas Decor continued its growth, Brandon was brought in as Director of Marketing. As the company shifted through several changes, Brandon served in an operational capacity, overseeing legal and financial matters, and now serves the company as President.
The Décor Group includes three brands: Christmas Decor, Nite Time Decor and Barcana. Christmas Decor is the world’s largest holiday decorating company, adorning over 40,000 residential and commercial properties annually. Nite Time Decor develops and manufactures top-tier quality, life-time warranty lighting products offered at factory-level pricing. Barcana is a world leader in Christmas Trees, fiberglass figurines, translucent illuminations and commercial ornaments for the Christmas retail and wholesale industries.
Brandon will teach us about the value of incorporating specialized services into your company and how to make it a successful endeavor!
